Windows 10 is coming – Bye Bye Internet Explorer

As you know one of the biggest causes for security issues in the past has been the Internet Explorer browser. For a good 7 or 8 years, now I have pleaded with all of you to use the Firefox or Google Chrome browsers (both should be installed on your computers).

Finally, Microsoft has realized that Internet Explorer is a bloated 20 year old project that needs to die. Windows 10 is the first step in that process. There will be a Microsoft browser in Windows 10 and it will have the familiar “E” logo. Many people will think it is Internet Explorer. However, it is a new browser called Edge. Beta testers have said that it is lean and very fast, reminded them of Chrome in the early days. It is important to keep in mind that Edge is a first generation product. Rely on Firefox and Chrome for now. With Windows 10, you may want to drift over the Edge from time to time. Please be careful.

FYI, Internet Explorer will still be there in a hidden area if it is needed for business applications. To the best of my knowledge none of my clients need Internet Explorer. Let it go.

RIP Internet Explorer 1995-2015!
