New Number 1 in Cell Phone Industry

I wanted to touch on a bit of news in the cell phone industry that I found most interesting.

Several times in the past I’ve referenced J.D. Power and Associates rankings on customer satisfaction in the cell phone industry. Many of you were likely familiar with their surveys on the automobile industry and perhaps other business sectors. For the past 5+ years, Verizon Wireless has been the number 1 or co-number 1 national carrier, to the best of my recollection. AT&T had the iPhone, but Verizon’s service both technically and in terms of customer support was considered the gold standard. Though I have never been a customer of T-Mobile, I had always told you how I admired them as a company and because of how they have treated my customers. In previous years, they have ranked as a co-number 1 with Verizon.

For 2010, they stand alone. Part of the reason may be dissatisfaction from Verizon customers because their carrier does not have the iPhone. However, T-Mobile did not back into this victory. Simply put, they really know how to take care of their customers. Like I’ve always said (with the exception of 911 calls), you aren’t going to be able to dial out in backwoods areas such as Salisbury, CT as a T-Mobile customer. However, if calling in suburbs and cities is all you care about…. I don’t see how you can go wrong with them.
